Itero: EchoSpins, stacking multipliers and the 10,000x cap

Itero came out on 5 May 2022, a 5x4 slot with 20 lines and a classical setting that Hacksaw itself can’t settle on: the rules call it Roman-themed, its May 2022 news summary says Ancient Greece. Its name is Latin for “to repeat”, and the game is built around EchoSpins, a respin that copies the spin before it, wins and multipliers included, up to eight times in a row. Hacksaw’s slots list rates it 5 out of 5 for volatility, and the rules cap it at 10,000x the bet. We found no game page for it on Hacksaw’s website, so the facts here come from the in-game rules, Hacksaw’s May 2022 news post and the review sites.

Some casinos and review sites list the game as “Itero EchoSpins”. Hacksaw’s rules and news call it plain Itero.

How a spin pays

Twenty fixed lines across five reels and four rows, paying matching symbols on adjacent reels from the leftmost one. Only the highest win per line is paid, and wins on different lines add up. (Bigwinboard’s review says wins pay “from the rightmost side”; the rules say leftmost.) The wild substitutes for the low and high symbols; on our reading of the rules, that means not for the Free Spin symbol, the Hand of Jupiter or the multipliers. Reviewers can’t agree what the wild depicts: Bigwinboard, SlotCatalog and AboutSlots see Cerberus, the three-headed dog; VegasSlotsOnline calls it a gargoyle.

In VegasSlotsOnline’s figures, five wilds or five of the top bust pay 10x the bet, and five of a card rank pay 1x or 2x. Line wins on their own are small next to the 10,000x cap; the EchoSpins below are what can multiply them.

Top bust2x4x10x
Second and third busts0.7x2x6x
Fourth and fifth busts0.5x1.5x4x
A, K, Q0.2x1x2x
J, 100.1x0.5x1x
Multiples of the bet, from VegasSlotsOnline’s figures at a 100 stake, divided by 100. Bigwinboard, AboutSlots and SlotCatalog give matching five-of-a-kind ranges (busts 4x to 10x, wild 10x; card ranks 1x to 2x per Bigwinboard and AboutSlots); the three- and four-of-a-kind values rest on VegasSlotsOnline alone. The busts are ranked by pay because the sources disagree on their colours: VegasSlotsOnline lists red, orange, turquoise, green and navy from the top; AboutSlots lists dark blue, turquoise, light blue, yellow and red.

EchoSpins and multipliers

From Hacksaw’s in-game rules:

  • The Hand of Jupiter lands with a win. When it lands together with at least one winning line, it reveals how many EchoSpins that phase gets: anything from 1 to 8.
  • Each EchoSpin copies the spin before. All the wins and multipliers reappear, the multipliers are stacked into the total shown above the reels, and the new total is applied to every winning line.
  • Two kinds of multiplier. Additive ones show 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x or 10x; multiplicative ones show x2 or x3. Outside EchoSpins, multipliers are not applied to any wins.

Because the multipliers are copied too, the total grows with every repeat when multipliers are in view (Gift from the Gods works differently; see below). Bigwinboard’s example: two EchoSpins with an additive x2 and x5 in view give x7 on the first respin and x14 on the second. SlotCatalog’s: two additive x10s give x20, then x40. The rules don’t spell out in what order additive and multiplicative values combine when both are on the grid.

What a repeat is worth

EchoSpins repeat the spin that triggered them, whatever it was. A single 0.1x line with no multiplier on screen repeats as 0.1x; Bigwinboard describes EchoSpins ranging “from repeat 0.1x wins with no multiplier to bigly stacked multipliers”, and found them uncommon in the base game.

Itero on a $100 bet with several WILD symbols, a 1144X multiplier counter in the top right and a line win of 210.00 x 1144
Xposed on Roobet at a $100 bet: the multiplier counter in the top right reads 1144X, a line win shows as 210.00 x 1144, several WILDs are on the grid and 2 spins remain.

Wrath of Jupiter and Gift from the Gods

BonusTriggerSpinsWhat changes
Wrath of Jupiter3 FS10Higher chance of the Hand of Jupiter, with a better chance of more EchoSpins and higher multipliers
Gift from the Gods4 FS10Every landed multiplier is saved in the total above the reels; an EchoSpins phase uses that total on each respin without adding to it, then the total resets
From Hacksaw’s in-game rules. FruitySlots says 4 or 5 scatters trigger Gift from the Gods; the rules mention only 4.

The two bonuses handle multipliers differently. On our reading of the rules, Wrath of Jupiter keeps the base-game rule, where multipliers only build up inside an EchoSpins phase; Bigwinboard notes the total resets when the phase ends. Gift from the Gods saves every multiplier that lands, spin after spin, but the saved total is only applied in an EchoSpins phase, which needs a Hand of Jupiter landing with a win. Bigwinboard’s reviewer had one that “built a multiplier from start to end but dropped no Hand of Jupiter symbols to use it”.

The Free Spin symbol only appears in the base game. On our reading, that rules out retriggers, and we found no source describing one: each bonus gets its ten spins.

The four versions from Bigwinboard, AboutSlots and FruitySlots. The game’s rules screen states the one you are playing; Hacksaw calculates it by simulating 10 billion rounds. The other two columns are our arithmetic from the RTP. Actual sessions vary widely either way.

VegasSlotsOnline headlines the game at 96.25%, the figure its own text gives for the Gift from the Gods buy; the same text gives 96.18% as the standard RTP. SlotCatalog shows whichever version it finds at casinos in the reader’s market, which can be 94.24%.

Hacksaw’s slots list shows a five-of-five volatility meter for Itero, and every review calls it high. Bigwinboard puts the hit rate at 29.38%; by our arithmetic, that means roughly 7 spins in 10 pay nothing.

Hacksaw’s rules have two buy-RTP lines, matching the two options, but the copy we read leaves the values as unfilled placeholders, so the figures above are the reviewers’. Availability varies by market. Hacksaw’s May 2022 news summary says the buy is “available in regulated markets”; SlotCatalog and FruitySlots say it is not offered in the UK. Bigwinboard, which found EchoSpins rare in the base game, thought that “bonus buys may be a temptation”.

The 10,000x cap

The rules put the cap at 10,000 times the bet and say only that it “may be achieved by triggering specific combinations and/or features”. Unlike some Hacksaw rules, they name no mode or combination. SlotCatalog’s reviewer thinks Gift from the Gods is “probably your best bet” for it; that is an opinion, not a published figure. We found no source that gives the odds; the rules leave that figure blank. When the cap is reached, the round ends at once and any free spins left are discarded.

At the review sites’ 100 maximum bet, the cap works out to 1,000,000 in the stake currency (our arithmetic).

Big wins

  • Onenasty, 9,775x at $1. The player’s own YouTube video from December 2022, whose description reads “Itero 200 Bonus Buy. $1.00 Bet Almost 10,000 X”. It is the only Itero win we found with the bet, the buy and the multiple all stated.
  • ClassyBeef, “$4,000,000 INSANE MAX WIN”, published 11 May 2022, six days after launch, on Stake according to the description. No bet is given. At 10,000x, $4 million would need a $400 bet, four times the maximum every review lists; the casino may have offered other limits, or the figure may be rounded or in another currency. We could not settle it.
  • Xposed, “ITERO EXPLODES FOR $777K!”, a clip on Xposed’s Kick channel from April 2024. No bet is stated, so we can’t work out a multiple.
  • KingbonusTV, €38,000, a YouTube video from January 2024 whose title calls it a “NEW RECORD!”. No bet.

Several more videos are titled “max win” without an amount, and one, from DAILY Degens, turns out in its own description to be a near miss. All of these are titles from streamers, fans or compilation channels; we found no casino or Hacksaw record of any of them.

Break Bones and other relatives

EchoSpins first appeared in Itero; Hacksaw’s May 2022 news summary called it “our latest mechanical invention”. According to Bigwinboard, it came back in Break Bones (October 2022), a 3x3 game with 17 lines and a 3,333x cap, where a Skeleton Hand randomly awards 1 to 5 EchoSpins. Bigwinboard calls it Itero’s “little brother, sister, or cousin” and “arguably easier to dip in and out of”. According to AllSlotsOnline, Eternal Nile (May 2025), from Ace Roll, a studio on Hacksaw’s OpenRGS platform, uses EchoSpins triggered by the Eye of Horus with a win, with the same 1–8 respins, the same multiplier values, the same 96.18% and 94.24% RTPs and the same 10,000x cap. No source we found says it reuses Itero’s maths; the numbers just match.

Outside Hacksaw, Bigwinboard calls EchoSpins “similar in spirit” to 4ThePlayer’s 10x Rewind, “though different in practice”; SlotCatalog says the game is built around “a somewhat similar time-paradoxical concept”. Among Hacksaw’s own games, Bigwinboard compares its dark palette to Hand of Anubis, and AboutSlots likens its feel to the same game, which it called “recently released” at the time. For a slot where wild multipliers add up across whole reels, see the VS reels in Wanted Dead or a Wild.

Questions people ask

What is the RTP of Itero?

96.18% in the default version, according to AboutSlots; Bigwinboard and SlotCatalog give it as the top value. Bigwinboard, AboutSlots and FruitySlots list the other versions as 94.24%, 92.32% and 88.33%. AboutSlots says operators choose which one to run; the in-game rules screen shows the one in use.

How do EchoSpins work in Itero?

When the Hand of Jupiter lands on a spin with at least one winning line, it reveals 1 to 8 EchoSpins. Each EchoSpin repeats the wins and multipliers of the spin before, stacks the multipliers into a running total and applies that total to every winning line. Outside EchoSpins, multipliers are not applied to any wins.

What is the max win in Itero?

10,000 times the bet, per round. When it is reached the round ends at once and any free spins left are lost. Hacksaw's rules don't say which combination or mode gets there.

How do you trigger the bonus in Itero?

Three Free Spin symbols give Wrath of Jupiter and four give Gift from the Gods, both 10 free spins. The Free Spin symbol only appears in the base game, so on our reading of the rules neither bonus can be retriggered.

How much is the Itero bonus buy?

129x the bet for Wrath of Jupiter and 200x for Gift from the Gods, with RTPs of 96.2% and 96.25% in the top version, according to every review we checked. The buy is not available in every market.
