How a spin pays

Five reels of six rows. A win is five or more matching symbols touching up, down, left or right; winning symbols are removed, new ones drop in, and the cascade continues until nothing new connects. A win lands on more than a third of spins, and many of those wins are small: a five-symbol cluster of card ranks pays a tenth of the bet.

The Soul Orbs

The base game has two wilds, and most of the game’s big base-game wins run through them. From Hacksaw’s in-game rules:

• On each spin you can land the red Soul Orb, the blue one, both or neither.
• Both are wilds that absorb power from all cluster wins in the spin, cascade after cascade. The red orb gains +1x for every winning symbol; the blue orb gains +1x for every winning cluster.
• Their multiplier applies to any win the orb is part of, and resets at the start of the next spin.
• If both orbs connect to the same winning cluster, their multipliers multiply each other.

The wording is disputed: SlotCatalog says an orb only charges from wins it is part of. We follow the rules, which say “all cluster wins in a round”.

Underworld bonus

Three scatters give 10 free spins with all the base-game paying symbols plus two new ones.

• Every reel has a multiplier below it, which grows by +1x for each winning symbol on that reel. A multiplier modifier symbol can multiply it by x2, x3, x4, x5 or x10.
• A reel’s multiplier only counts once a green Soul Orb has landed on that reel. Activated multipliers are global: their values are added together and applied to every winning cluster.
• Each activation adds 3 more spins. Each multiplier can reach 9,999.

The scatters only land in the base game, so there are no other retriggers. SlotCatalog’s view is that the 10,000x is easier to picture in this round, though the Judgment bonus pays more on average.

Judgment bonus

Four scatters give Judgment, which Bigwinboard calls “similar in fashion to Chaos Crew”. The normal symbols are replaced by blocks, there are 3 spins, and the count goes back to 3 whenever a Multiplier, Multiplier Modifier or Crusher block lands. Three empty spins in a row end it.

• Reel multipliers sit above the grid. Skulls add 1x to 100x to their own reel; Epic Skulls add to every reel. Anubis Skulls multiply their reel by x2 to x10; Epic Anubis Skulls multiply every reel.
• Ice blocks turn multipliers into payout blocks. An ice block that drops onto the grid is crushed, and a Multiplier Block worth the reel’s current multiplier falls into its place. Multiplier Blocks stack up from the bottom of the grid.
• The Crusher Block falls through everything to the bottom, destroying the Multiplier Blocks in its path, then becomes one block worth their total, which makes room for more.

At the end, every Multiplier Block on the grid is added up and multiplied by the bet.

RTP and volatility

Hacksaw’s slots list shows a full five-bar volatility meter for the game, and Bigwinboard and SlotCatalog both rate it 5 out of 5. The hit rate of 36.92% is high for a 5/5 game. Many of those hits are small: a five-symbol cluster of card ranks pays 0.1x.

Bonus buy

The 10,000x cap

Hacksaw’s rules describe the base-game route to the cap: both Soul Orbs on the grid, charged to a combined multiplier of at least 167x, then both joining an 11+ cluster of the golden ankh. The ankh pays 60x for 11+, and 167 × 60 is 10,020x, just over the cap. When it is reached the round ends at once. The DraftKings copy of the rules puts the odds at 1 in 650,000 spins; no other source gives a figure.

Big wins on record

• Roshtein, $6,622,400 at $1,000 (6,622x), listed in 2024 as his personal best on roshtein.com; the date of the win is not given. His clip on this site is titled “BASE GAME HAND OF ANUBIS!!!! 6622x!!”.
• Roshtein, $6,566,700 at $1,500 (about 4,378x), in the base game while bonus hunting, reported on 27 February 2023.
• Xposed, $546,000 from a $200 stake (2,730x), reported by VegasSlotsOnline in October 2024 and shown above.
• Cabrzy, $12,000 at $1.20, the max win shown above. Cabrzy’s clip on this site is titled “ANUBIS MAX WIN $12,000”.

We found no written source for the “$1.8 million” in another Xposed clip title. The written reports come from streamer-owned or affiliate sites and the rest from stream footage; none comes from a casino or Hacksaw.
