Chaos Crew (2020)
A 5x5 grid with 15 lines. Hacksaw’s own page has a data box that says 19, but its page text, its in-game rules and every review say 15; the box only appeared after a 2022–23 site redesign and matches the sequels.
The base game: Cranky Cat
The Cranky Cat is the wild and a mystery multiplier at the same time, showing x2, x3 or x5. It stands in for everything except the free-spins scatter. The rule that matters: when more than one Cranky Cat sits on the same line, their multipliers multiply each other.
Multiply, not add
Five tentacles, the top symbol, pay 12x. If two of those positions are Cranky Cats at x3 and x5, the line pays 12 × 15 = 180x. In Wanted Dead or a Wild, two VS reels at 3x and 5x would give 8x, because Wanted adds. That is the key arithmetic difference between the two base games.
The paytable is modest: tentacles pay 2x, 7x and 12x for three, four and five; moths, brains and apple cores 1x, 2x and 5x; the low symbols 0.15x, 0.3x and 1x. Only VegasSlotsOnline prints the full table, and Bigwinboard confirms the top figures.
The bonus: Free Spins
Three scatters start it. You get 3 spins, and every time a winning symbol lands the count goes back to 3; three blank spins in a row end it. A number above each reel starts at 1x, and four kinds of symbol change it:
- Cranky Cat multiplies its reel’s number by x2, x3, x5, x10 or x20.
- Epic Cranky Cat does the same to every reel.
- Sketchy Skull adds +1, +2, +5, +10 or +20 to its reel.
- Epic Sketchy Skull adds to every reel.
They apply left to right, top to bottom. At the end the five reel numbers are added together and multiplied by the bet. So the order matters: on the same reel, a Skull that lands before a Cat is worth more than one that lands after, because the Cat multiplies what the Skull added. Hacksaw’s rules name the free spins as the mode where the 10,000x max win can be reached.
Buying in
There is one buy, for the free spins. Bigwinboard and SlotCatalog give the price as 129x the bet and AboutSlots as 100x; all three agree its RTP is 95.92%, below the 96.30% of the base game, so in this game buying costs you slightly more in the long run. SlotCatalog says it is not offered in the UK. Hacksaw lists RTP versions of 96.30%, 92.40% and 88.40%. The soundtrack won bronze for game music at the 2021 CasinoBeats Game Developer Awards.
Chaos Crew 2 (2023)
Hacksaw called the 20,000x cap its “biggest ever max win” when Chaos Crew 2 launched on 28 September 2023. It moves to 19 lines and widens the Cranky Cat’s range to x2, x3, x4, x5, x10 and x20, with at most one Cat per reel in the base game. Cats in the same win still multiply each other, and the rules add that a max win occurs when a Cranky Cat lands on each reel in the same winning line, with a combined multiplier of at least x1,000.
- Epic Drop: at the start of a base-game spin the game can turn into the bonus at random for one spin, landing at least five multiplier symbols, then switch back.
- Bonus (three scatters): three refilling lives, reel numbers starting at 1x and added up at the end, as in the original. The Skull now adds 1x to 100x and the Cat multiplies by x2 to x20, and both come in Sticky versions that stay and apply again on every later spin.
- Super Bonus (four scatters): the first spin guarantees at least seven multiplier symbols.
- Best of Bonus and Best of Super Bonus (a BEST OF BONUS scatter with three or four scatters): three full rounds, best one paid. This is where the feature started; Hacksaw later used it in 2 Wild 2 Die.
Scatters only land in the base game, so no bonus retriggers; rounds go on only while the lives refill. The hit frequency is 27%, and the review sites put the max-win odds at about 1 in 1.7 million. It won Best Game of the Year at the 2023 SiGMA Streamer Awards, according to Hacksaw.

Chaos Crew 3 (2025)
Released on 25 September 2025 with a 30,000x cap and, unusually, no data box on Hacksaw’s page, so Hacksaw’s page gives no RTP or volatility figure (the in-game rules screen shows the RTP of the version you are playing). Bigwinboard and AboutSlots give 96.18%, 94.17%, 92.27% and 86.19%; VegasSlotsOnline says 96.14%. Even the maximum bet is listed as 30, 100 or 200 depending on the source.
- The base game keeps the Cranky Cat wild multiplier (x2 to x20, one per reel, Cats in the same win multiplied together). Hacksaw’s rules say the max win is possible in the base game too, with five Cats in one win, but with a lower probability.
- Epic Drop, “Can you spell CHAOS?”: the low symbols are the letters C, H, A, O and S. Spell CHAOS across a row and you get one reward spin in which the letters turn into Glitch Dogs that jump to new spots and become multipliers.
- CTRL + ALT + CHAOS (three scatters): three lives, refilled by any multiplier symbol. A Glitch Dog stays on the grid and jumps somewhere new each spin, though it only refills the lives the first time it lands.
- The Korrupted K9 (four scatters): starts with at least four multipliers and a Glitch Dog, and adds Chaos Upgrade symbols, which add 1x to 100x to every multiplier and Glitch Dog in the 3x3 square around them.
- An Epic Glitch! (five scatters): starts with a full grid of multipliers, a Chaos Upgrade and at least one Glitch Dog.
No scatters land inside any of the bonuses, so none retrigger, and the Best of Bonus from Chaos Crew 2 is gone. The buy menu has BonusHunt FeatureSpins at 5x, Byte Me Epic Drop FeatureSpins at 200x, CTRL + ALT + CHAOS at 100x and The Korrupted K9 at 200x, which can turn into An Epic Glitch!. When a bonus starts, the game fakes a blue screen of death; its own text reads “This is not a blue screen; you are entering a bonus game in Chaos Crew 3. :)”.

Big wins on record
- Roshtein, Chaos Crew 2, $7,886,800 from a $400 bet (19,717x), in late June 2025. VegasSlotsOnline and roshtein.com agree on the multiple; only VegasSlotsOnline gives the stake. roshtein.com quotes him asking “Is that a max?”. It was close: the cap is 20,000x.
- Roshtein, Chaos Crew 2, 2,864x at $1,000 on 7 October 2023, shown above. Nine days later roshtein.com mentioned his “record-breaking $2.8 million win” on the game, which may refer to this one; the article does not say.
- Roshtein, Chaos Crew 2, $1.8 million at 3,616x, reported on 16 October 2023 as his highest multiplier on the game at the time. No bet stated.
- ClassyBeef, Chaos Crew 2, $1,918,100, listed by Book of Slots as the team’s biggest win, without a date or bet.
We found no documented big win on the original Chaos Crew. The written reports come from streamer-owned or affiliate news sites, and the rest from stream footage; none comes from casinos or Hacksaw.
Chaos Crew and Wanted
Bigwinboard’s Wanted review says Wanted “shares a lot of similarities with their 2020 smash hit Chaos Crew”, and goes further: “one could argue Wanted is a continuation of Chaos Crew of sorts”. SlotCatalog points to the same 5x5 grid with 15 lines and a base-game mystery multiplier. The difference is in the arithmetic. Chaos Crew’s Cats multiply each other; Wanted’s VS reels add. Chaos Crew’s bonus is a multiplier collection; Wanted has three different bonuses, one of which, Duel at Dawn, makes several VS reels at once much more likely.
