How a spin pays
Five reels, five rows and 19 fixed lines, paying three or more of a kind from the leftmost reel. The paytable is small: the top symbol, an 8-ball, pays 2x, 10x and 20x the bet for three, four and five, and five of either wild pay 25x. Only VegasSlotsOnline prints every row; Bigwinboard, AboutSlots and SlotCatalog confirm the five-of-a-kind figures.
| Symbol | 3 | 4 | 5 |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8-ball | 2x | 10x | 20x |
| Dice, smiley | 1.5x | 7.5x | 17.5x |
| Banana, skull | 1x | 5x | 15x |
| A | 0.4x | 2x | 10x |

Wild Cats and WILD multipliers
From Hacksaw’s in-game rules:
- The Wild Cat expands only when it helps. If the expanded symbol would be part of at least one win, it drops its jaw downward to the bottom of the grid, and every position it covers is wild. A Wild Cat that doesn’t expand counts as a single wild. Each reel can hold only one Wild Cat at a time.
- WILDs become multipliers. If a Wild Cat expands through a regular WILD symbol, that WILD turns into a multiplier for the whole expanded Wild Cat: 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x, 7x, 8x, 9x, 10x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 50x, 100x or 200x.
- Multipliers add. If one win runs through more than one multiplied Wild Cat, the values are added together first and then applied, exactly as Wanted adds its VS reels.
Why a high-landing Wild Cat matters
The cat only expands downward, so one landing in the top row covers the whole reel and has the best chance of passing through a WILD. One landing on the bottom row covers a single square. This follows from the rules; no source puts a number on it.

Ro$$ Bonus and Maxx Bonus
| Bonus | Trigger | Spins | What changes | Extra spins |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ro$$ Bonus | 3 FS | 10 | Better chance of Wild Cats and WILDs than in the base game | 3 FS: +4. 4 FS: upgrades to Maxx Bonus |
| Maxx Bonus | 4 FS | 10 | A reel is activated the first time a Wild Cat lands on it; from then on a Wild Cat is guaranteed there on every spin | 3 FS: +4 |
Landing four scatters during the Ro$$ Bonus switches it to the Maxx Bonus at the end of that spin; if fewer than 10 spins are left, the count goes back up to 10. The rules describe nothing for four scatters inside the Maxx Bonus or for five scatters anywhere.
In the Maxx Bonus, every activated reel is guaranteed a Wild Cat on each remaining spin, so the earlier reels activate, the more spins have several cats that can swallow WILDs. Hacksaw’s own page frames it as “a better shot at big wins” if all five reels activate early; when they activate is down to chance.
RTP and volatility
| RTP | Casino keeps | Long-run average loss per $1,000 staked |
|---|---|---|
| 96.22% (default) | 3.78% | $37.80 |
| 94.27% | 5.73% | $57.30 |
| 92.32% | 7.68% | $76.80 |
| 88.02% | 11.98% | $119.80 |
Hacksaw rates RIP City 3 out of 5 for volatility, and Bigwinboard and SlotCatalog agree on medium. A win lands on about 18% of spins, per Bigwinboard and SlotCatalog. The bottom version, 88.02%, keeps more than three times as much of every bet as the top one.
Bonus buy and FeatureSpins
| Option | Price | What you get | Volatility | RTP |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| BonusHunt FeatureSpins | 3x per spin | Five times as likely to trigger a bonus | High | 96.44% |
| 2 Wild Cats FeatureSpins | 20x per spin | At least 2 Wild Cats on every spin | Very high | 96.34% or 96.36% |
| 3 Wild Cats FeatureSpins | 50x per spin | At least 3 Wild Cats on every spin | Very high | 96.31% |
| Ro$$ Bonus | 110x | 10 free spins with more Wild Cats and WILDs | High | 96.20% |
| Maxx Bonus | 200x | 10 free spins; activated reels land a Wild Cat every spin | High | 96.41% |
FeatureSpins stay switched on, charging their price on every spin, until you press Disable. Bigwinboard thought the game “caters more to bonus-buy players” and called the Wild Cat FeatureSpins “quite pricey”.
The 12,500x cap
Hacksaw’s rules say the max win can come in the base game or either bonus, and spell out how: a Wild Cat on every reel, each expanded through a WILD, with multipliers adding up to at least 27x. The arithmetic behind that number: with all five cats covering their whole reels (each landing in the top row), every one of the 19 lines is five wilds, and five wilds pay 25x, so the screen pays 19 × 25 = 475 times the sum of the multipliers. 27 × 475 is 12,825x, just past the cap; 26 would fall short. Bigwinboard puts the odds at 1 in 6 million spins. When the cap is reached, the round ends at once.

Big wins
RIP City’s big wins are thinly documented. No written source we found gives a bet size for any of them, so none has a reliable multiple. YouTube re-uploads put a Yassuo hit at $150,000 and Cabrzy’s at $358,740, both matching clips on this site. The $312,500 max win above is visible on screen; the bet behind it is our inference from the cap.
Rad Maxx, Hot Ross and Wanted
RIP City won GamblingNews’ Most Watched New Slot of the Month for January 2023, and Hacksaw brought the characters back twice. Rad Maxx (April 2025) is, in Bigwinboard’s words, “a very different game”, with 76 lines and Pay Direction Arrows. Hot Ross (February 2026) “revisits much of the gameplay” of RIP City with expanding cats, multipliers up to 200x, three bonuses and a 15,000x cap.
Reviewers also compare it with Wanted Dead or a Wild. Gamblington: “If you enjoyed the VS symbols in the western slot, you’d welcome the jaw-dropping (literally) mechanism in RIP City.” The rule is the same in both, a reel-filling wild whose multipliers add, but Wanted’s VS reel fills the whole reel wherever it lands and needs no second symbol. See our VS reels explainer.
Questions people ask
What is the RTP of RIP City?
96.22% in the default version. Hacksaw also supplies 94.27%, 92.32% and 88.02% versions, and the casino chooses which one it runs.
What is the max win in RIP City?
12,500 times the bet, per round. Hacksaw's rules say it can be reached in the base game and in both bonuses, and that it takes a Wild Cat on every reel, each expanded through a WILD, with multipliers adding up to at least 27x.
How do the Wild Cat multipliers work?
A Wild Cat expands down its reel if that would complete a win. If it expands through a regular WILD, the WILD becomes a multiplier between 2x and 200x for the whole expanded Wild Cat. Two or more of these in one win are added together.
What is the difference between the Ro$$ Bonus and the Maxx Bonus?
Ro$$ Bonus (3 scatters, 10 spins) makes Wild Cats and WILDs more likely. Maxx Bonus (4 scatters, 10 spins) guarantees a Wild Cat lands on every reel that has been activated, for the rest of the bonus.
How much is the RIP City bonus buy?
110x the bet for the Ro$$ Bonus and 200x for the Maxx Bonus, according to SlotCatalog, AboutSlots and Gamblington. Bigwinboard lists the Maxx Bonus at 2000x, which looks like a typo.
